Candy bar in a cup! We noted aromas of apricot, almond bark, and brown sugar. Once brewed, the apricot note remained along with flavors of milk chocolate and bright pomegranate. The soft, buttery body features a honeycomb candy sweetness and crisp green grape acidity. A warm finish of cinnamon and mandarin keeps you wanting more. Imported by our friends at Crop to Cup: "Komothai coffee growers cooperative is an anomaly. In a land of coop organizations managing single wet mills, KCG Co-op manages 13, and wins awards for it. The boardroom decor is a string of awards for Good Governance and a photo wall—a who’s who of dignitaries that have visited the group. For example, the wife of Jomo Kenyatta, Kenya's first president, joined a dedication ceremony for the group’s dry mill in 2002. "The mill and offices sit at 6,000 ft, but at least four of the 13 factories come from the hills above. To get to Kanake you weave through the mountain tops of Kiambu County, past waterfalls and tea gardens. A primary school sits above the factory, so you’ll be greeted with vigor. Kanake towers at 6,500 ft with contributing farms above. Because of cool climates and cloudy skies, coffee up here will take up to 21 days to dry, and Joseph, the manager, rotates parchment twice daily. The result is spectacular. We couldn’t be more excited to share this group and its amazing bounty."
