La Balsa is a small bridge spanning the Rio Canchis that crosses the border of Ecuador and Peru. Near this modest international junction grows this vibrant organic coffee that displays vivid melon and apple flavors, balanced with a rich, earthy brown sugar sweetness. Where La Balsa Bridge connects southern Ecuador to northern Peru, the Andes Mountains meet the Amazon Rainforest. ACRIM Cooperative producers use organic methods that work in harmony with the pristine environment to grow coffee in an area that is home to 5 endangered species - including the tapir, cougar, and Andean bear. Grown as an act of protection, the fresh fruit flavors this coffee creates reflect the purity and complexity of its origin.
