Southdown Coffee Roasters
Huntington, NY, USA
Fazenda Catiguá is a family affair. The farmland was purchased by Ivanyse Carvalho’s parents in 1974 when it was used only for animal grazing. Over time the family has converted it to coffee production, with some grazing animals and other crops rounding out their operations. Ivanyse grew up to become a lawyer, but eventually left her career to continue the family’s work, adding facilities for drying and updating processing methods to produce exceptional specialty coffees. This pulped natural lot is processed to perfection, with a rich body, lovely aromas, and plenty of sweetness. As is typical of Brazil, the acidity is subdued and pairs well with milk, though it stands up well on its own with a classic easy-drinking profile.
