Roast House
Spokane, WA, USA
Delightful toasted almond and dried fig aromatics fill your house after you grind this coffee. A syrupy sweet tea-like body carries it through from start to finish with notes of red grape and macadamia nuts. Cacao nibs coat your tongue as you finish your last sip. This coffee comes from our friends at Asproguate, and more specifically the women-produced lot, Fuerza de Mujer (translates to “Strength of Women”). Asproguate is a relatively young organization, having been founded in 2014 by 100 coffee growers in the Acatenango, Coban, and Chimaltenango regions of Guatemala committed to growing coffee without the use of chemicals. The members of ASPROGUATE set out with the express purpose of showing that growing coffee organically is not only better for the environment, but is more economically sustainable and leads to higher incomes. The majority of ASPROGUATE's farms are women-owned, and nearly all of ASPROGUATE's members are of indigenous Kaqchikel and Tz'utujil ethnicity.
