About This Coffee
Huabal is one of five coffees we have from Peru this year. We started working with the team at Cultivar over five years ago and have been impressed with the access they have in Peru and the connections with farmers they have helped us make. We have written more about the work they do in the March 2021, February 2024, and May 2026 newsletters. Huabal is a community lot of coffee put together for us by the Cultivar team from the Coronel Villanueva extended family. The farms are located in Jaén where the harvest starts in mid-June and runs until mid-October. The producers also grow different types of tubers, such as yuca and arracachas, corn, beans and fruit trees intercropped with coffee. Cattle and dairy farming are also present in a smaller scale.
