Candycane coffee
Prague, Czechia
We have been buying coffee from the Rungeto Farmers Cooperative since 2016. Grown on the fertile slopes of Mount Kenya, this exceptional coffee comes from the Kii Factory, part of the renowned Rung’eto Farmers Cooperative Society in Kirinyaga, Kenya. The cooperative is Fairtrade-certified and committed to producing high-quality coffee through meticulous processing and sustainable practices. Thanks to the region’s rich volcanic Nitisol soil, high altitude, and ideal climate, this coffee develops a bright acidity, complex flavors, and a rich, fruit-forward profile. The carefully harvested cherries undergo hand-sorting before being pulped using a 3-disc Agaarde pulper, which grades the beans by density. After dry fermentation (18–36 hours), the coffee is thoroughly washed, graded again, and sun-dried for 12 to 20 days on raised African beds. The result is a clean, well-balanced cup with vibrant fruit notes and refined sweetness. Roasted specifically for filter brewing, this coffee showcases juicy berry notes, citrus-like acidity, and a silky body, making it ideal for pour-over, batch brew, or Aeropress. Whether you're a casual coffee drinker or a dedicated enthusiast, Kii Factory’s coffee offers a distinctive and memorable experience in every cup.
