Fruity sweetness dominates this mixed-variety offering from Colombia. The relatively lower acidity brings to mind cooked citrus sweetness that reminds us of marmalade with some brown spice notes. Finca San Carlos lies about 4 hours Northwest of Medellin in the municipality of Urrao and boasts extremely high altitude for the region. The ChocΓ³ rain forest lies nearby so wet weather is also abundant in this region. The cold and wet climate leads to longer fermentation times to remove the sticky mucilage layer and often results in more overt fruit tones than other coffees in the southern Colombian regions.
