About This Coffee

Guatemalan coffee production began in the 1850s despite coffee being brought over nearly a century prior by Jesuit priests. Its popularity spiked by 1860 due to the relative ease of growing coffee because of the rich volcanic soil and various microclimates. By 1860s, the country exported 140,000 pounds of coffee and over 40 millions within 25 years. AApicafi (Asociación de Apicultores y Caficultores) founded in 2013 stands for "Association of Beekeepers and Coffee Growers. The group consists of 24 small producers of coffee and honey. Their objective is to preserve the environment before, during and post harvest. The association aims to support its members and families via marketing of their product, as well as socially, culturally and economically enhance their lives.
