About This Coffee
Born and raised in São Paulo, ex-surfer Clayton Barrosa Monteiro was told by his uncle that being a coffee farmer was an easy profession, “you work six months out of the year and the rest you can do whatever you want”. Clayton laughs as he recalls this idea and says, “I have been farming for 18 years and still haven’t seen any time off!”. This is perhaps because Clayton has an extra dedication in the work that he does. His farm and drying patios are well kept and the execution he and his team perform is immaculate. Clayton's farm sits around 1400masl and marks the entrance to the park Pico da Bandeira, one of Brazil’s national wonders. At the peak, 3000masl, temperatures can dip as low as -18 Celsius and on a clear day one can see across the whole bordering state of Espirito Santo all the way to the ocean.
