Madcap Coffee Company
Grand Rapids, MI, USA
The story of Gasharu Coffee dates back to the 1970s when teenager Celestin Rumenerangabo bought land to support his family. He planted his first 380 coffee trees and quickly expanded his local business, partnering with other local coffee farmers in the process. Now, they’re on a mission to make Gasharu Coffee Company a model for their community by producing high-quality Rwanda coffee, investing in social development projects, and promoting a sustainable farming philosophy — all while offering the highest possible prices to their small-farm coffee producers. For this natural processed coffee the cherries were dried on bed for 25 to 30 days. The younger farmers do the processing while the older farmers sort, passing on the generational knowledge. But that’s not all that the Gasharu coffee company passed on - they’ve created a social impact program to help the community needs such as livestock farming, healthcare, and daycare. In this coffee expect notes of berries, lemon, and red apple.
