Good Life Coffee
Helsinki, Finland
Words from Kafferäven, the green coffee importing company we bought this coffee from: Finca Origenes is a young farm that stated in 2016 when the first coffee plants hit the ground on this land. The aim of Origenes is to showcase the variety of flavours found in the world. Finca Origenes was started as a project in 2016 when Rebeca, Ricardo and Edgar decided to buy land in Brunca and plant a vast variety of coffee plants. The aim is to find out what varieties best suit the land, soil and altitude and then focus on these. 2019 they saw the first harvest and we now we got the third. Ricardo tells us: ”We have coffee from Kongo, Kenya, Sudan, Ethiopia, Colombia, Brazil, Guatemala to name a few origins. Our idea is to experiment with some old and wild varieties. Over time, we will see what varieties best adapt to the conditions here in Brunca. We share the best seeds with other families and farms in the region. In this way, we will increase the chance for a better and more sustainable economy for us all.” We had the chances to buy the whole crop and took it. Part of the crop is mixed in a Field Blend. Four varieties are kept separate as their volume is sufficient for this: San Roque, Geisha, SL28 and T5296 Sarchimor.
