Laboratoria Coffee
One of our new Kenyan contracts is a fresh crop from the Muchaghara Processing Station of the Baragwi Cooperative. We chose grain AA, this abbreviation in Kenya stands for grain size, and stands for screen 18 and above, the largest among the rest. When working with coffee from Kenya, we try to make the roast more developed in order to bring out the bright berry sweetness inherent in this coffee. Already during the grinding of this lot, you will be enchanted by its berry aroma. Immediately after brewing, you will notice distinct notes of candied lemon, rich rooibos will become the heart of the taste, and as a plume, which pleased us very much, red currant is no doubt felt, that same berry note that completes this Kenyan picture. The Baragwi cooperative is the largest cooperative in Kenya both in terms of coffee production and number of farmers. The cooperative is located in the Kirinyaga region. It includes 12 washed processing stations. All stations use the same processing technology to produce the highest quality product. Station managers change the processing station they work at every two years to ensure the exchange of experience and again maintain the quality of the coffee produced. The property of the cooperative is the processing stations, vehicles, various equipment necessary for the production of coffee, four plots of land on which the warehouse, the main office and its branch in the Karumandi market are located. 1221 farmers bring berries to Muchagara processing station. The height of the farms varies from 1600 to 1800 meters above sea level. Berries before depulpation are manually sorted out, then washed in pools of water, from which all floating berries are removed. Fermentation lasts all night, after which the grain is washed and sorted into grades. Drying on African beds takes 8 to 14 days.
