This coffee comes to us through Village Imports which has a goal to empower farmers through increased yields, higher incomes, and better market access. Village does a great deal of on the ground support and management to assist in bringing these unique coffees directly to roasters. This particular lot comes from one of their jointly owned farms. The level of collaboration allows the skills of farm manager Bruno to be focused more on growing exceptional coffee whole the sales and logistics can be handled. Bruno Bonatto, aka "El Tigre" - his hobbies include playing soccer and taking week long hikes deep into the jungle to marvel at the rich assortment of indigenous flora and fauna, he is a natural environmentalist. Legend has is that his family was on the the first to bring coffee to Peru and it shows in his passion and knowledge as he discusses the precision to growing the perfect coffee cherry. One can say Bruno has coffee running through his veins. Peru Finca Cinco Corazones is a 135 hectar specialty coffee farm located in the Villa Rica Chanchamayo, Junin Peru. It is named Finca Cinco Corazones (five hearts) after the original owner's five children. Shared-X operations on the farm include paying an average wage 14% above the national average, recent organic certification, and the ability to separate lots by altitude to maintain consistent flavor profiles. All plants are maintained to the level needed to grow healthy Gesha varietals, so the result is greater consistency and amazing floral/acidity profiles. This farm is UTZ certified and grown using organic practices.
