Café Orfeu
Sertãozinho, Borda da Mata - MG, 37564-000, Brazil
In the meandering mountains of Mogiana, a lush, undulating cafezal surrounds a jewel: the chapel designed by Oscar Niemeyer. The coffee that sprouts there unites art and Brazilianness, projects the sweetness of the pineapple and the vibrant acidity of the citrus fruits. He seems to want to dance in his mouth to tell us where he came from and who he was inspired by. Learn more Orpheus values art - as you can see in the section of Art & Culture from this site - and has a chapel designed by Niemeyer in one of his properties, the Queen Farm, the same that originated the coffee of this Microlot. In addition, Orfeu wants to awaken in Brazilians the pride for coffee, just as Niemeyer did with architecture. The Chapel of Santa Clara was one of Oscar's last works. It was built at the request of the farm employees, also residents of the property: a place to pray. Masses have been held there ever since. The venue also celebrated weddings and baptisms of staff and their children. It represents union, faith and contemplation of the beautiful. Opened in 2008 on volcanic podzolic soil, the chapel is surrounded by olive trees and Arabica coffee crops that reach 1570 meters in altitude and are harvested by hand. From four plots of these plantations, the Microlote is composed. The blend of the varieties Bourbon Yellow and Macaw, toasted with precision and softness, projects sweetness and acidity. Expresses pineapple, peanuts, dulce de leche, silk and vigor. Exudes complexity.
