About This Coffee

Ultra-progressive coffee producer Josue Morales brings us this fully organic coffee from Antigua. Morales and his innovative farming techniques have changed the playing field for Guatemalan coffee, and El Pintado is no exception. It's here that Josue runs his substantial Vermiculture operation, producing organic compost by feeding cherry pulp and skin to millions of worms in a repurposed washing station—some truly underground sustainability. This farm, located right next to the Panorama neighborhood on the road to Ciudad Vieja, is one of the most historic in Antigua. The farm was designed to be a forest environment where many different types of shade trees native to Guatemala serve as the canopy that nourishes ten hectares of a Bourbón variety over one hundred years old. The farm recently went through a drastic, needed stumping and renovation program that rendered its first (delicious) harvest in 2021.
