In 2013, we launched the orangutan coffee project together with the Orangutan Regenwald GmbH and the Swiss PanEco Foundation. The association of coffee roasters, animal rights activists and local coffee farmers is committed to preserving the habitat of the last free-living orangutans. The coffee farmers of the orangutan coffee project cultivate their coffee gardens in a natural way. This cultivation method preserves the natural balance. The farmers undertake to protect the rainforest with its animals and plants, for which they receive a premium of €0.50 per kilogram of green coffee. Another €0.50 goes to the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Program (SOCP), which has been committed to protecting Sumatran orangutans and their rainforests since 1999. In the cup: In the main note, our orangutan coffee develops delicious notes of pecan nuts. In the secondary note, aromas of plum, cucumber and leafy greens can be tasted. The taste of brown sugar lingers on the tongue.
