Verve Coffee Roasters
Santa Cruz, CA, USA
If you’ve ever bitten into a cotton candy grape, you’re met with both sweetness and slight tartness—that is what the first sip of this coffee is. Mild and delicate florals of Honeysuckle follow it. All of that rounds into a classically sweet and vibrant stonefruit of Apricot. For those that want a sweet, acidic, and just downright delicious cup, this is your coffee. Banko Gotiti is a village and the name of the washing station where this coffee is from. Located near the border of the Oromia Region, it is owned by METAD Agricultural Development PLC, a family-run company. The farm was given to the family by Emperor Selassie to honor the first female African pilot. Today the farm is managed by the pilot’s grandson, Aman Adinew, and his brother’s partnering business, Rift Valley Trading LLC. This washing station is committed to equal employment opportunities for women and provides education for the youth of the Coffeelands. Coffees undergo being fully washed after de-pulping and fermenting for 36-48 hours, soaked in tanks overnight in clean water, and then dried on raised beds in the sun.
