Deep in Agua Dulce on the western frontier of the remote region of Huehuetenango, Patricia skillfully and lovingly cares for her coffee plants from blossom to harvest. She lives with her mother Auri and her 8 year old daughter Iza in their simple, but charming house overlooking the drying patios. Following the passing of her father 15 years ago, she took over the family farm, becoming the first woman to own a farm (and to learn to drive!) in her village. She grows Bourbon, Caturra, Maragogype and Geisha in the shade of several fruit trees: lemon, orange, banana and apricot trees. This is our third year of relationship with this producer whom we visited for the first time in February 2020. This year's lot comes to us from the highest point of her farm and is made up of Bourbon and Caturra. This coffee is beautifully structured and balanced, ideal for lovers of a more classical cup profile. We taste deep notes of milk chocolate, pecans and raisins as well as a silky texture.
