Sey Coffee

Octavio has produced some of the highest-scoring Pink Bourbon we have tasted from Colombia. His coffees are consistently expressive, with remarkable intensity and complexity. In the cup we find tropical fruit, mango, pomegranate, and hibiscus. During coffee-buying trips, we divide our time between cupping labs, visiting longtime partners, and seeking out new producers. Thousands of small coffee farmers have never had their coffees tasted by a specialty buyer, and each year we dedicate time to discovering them. Octavio Rueda’s coffee first stood out on a purchasing table, and we have now been buying from him for several years. He consistently produces one of our favorite Pink Bourbons in all of Colombia. Pink Bourbon is a relatively new variety being grown primarily in and around Huila, Colombia. The variety has been identified genetically as an Ethiopian Landrace, but unfortunately, we cannot be any more specific as to its origins until there is a larger genetic database.
