Roadmap Coffeeworks
Lexington, KY, USA
Ethiopia is known to produce some of the finest coffee on Earth. Washed Process Ethiopians often present floral aromas and a delicate, tea-like body. In this offering from Halo Beriti, florality does shine but it is the juicy - rather than delicate - mouthfeel that really impressed us. Add in the fruit-forward flavor notes and this just might be our favorite coffee of 2022. Halo Beriti Washing Station serves 750 smallholder producers. This lot was subject to meticulous hand sorting throughout the receiving and drying process, ensuring that only perfect coffees made the cut. It is common in Ethiopia for smallholder farmers, many of whom own less than 1/2 hectare of land, to deliver their cherry to local washing stations. The coffee is then sorted and processed into lots without retaining information about the farmer.
