Tanzania boasts of a very rich wildlife habitat consisting of the hugely visited Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, home to Africa’s highest point - Mount Kilimanjaro, among other rich natural resources. Tanzania, among the other African countries, has one of the largest populations of each of the big five, and it is the ideal environment and surroundings for them to live. The Big Five originated from the big game hunters, referring to the most elusive and difficult animals to hunt on foot which includes the African Lion, Africa Leopard, African Elephant, Cape buffalo and Rhinoceros. With all this magnificent bio-diversity, Tanzania is also widely known for some of the world’s highly regarded coffees characterised by succulent flavours and bright, winey acidity. The Kubwa Tano AA is a naturally processed lot produced by small farmer groups under their Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society (AMCOS) in the Mbeya region, Southern Tanzania. Grown at 1,000 - 2,000 metres above sea level, the farmers with their families handpick and deliver the red ripe cherries to their washing station for re-sorting and the final cherries collected are placed on the African raised beds. To control the fermentation process and achieve optimal moisture content, the coffee is regularly turned and covered during the hottest part of the day and night against possible rain pour. Indulge with our Kubwa Tano (Swahili for Big Five) Series as you reflect on the experience that stirs up inner change in unforeseen ways while journeying through this vast wilderness beauty and vibrancy that defines Tanzania.
