Tinker Coffee Co.
Indianapolis, IN, USA
Demeka Becha is the name of the washing station where this beautiful coffee was produced, with cherries sourced from the surrounding communities of Dilla Suke, Demeka, Goacho, Becha, and Bashiro Dale. The washing station is owned by Ayele Tulu, and his two sons Tsegab and Abinet both play active roles in helping their father manage the operations of the site. Ayele’s wife Genet Haile Endeshow is a constant presence at the washing station as well, making the operations of Demeka Becha a true family affair! Located at the top of rolling hills in Bona Zuria, Sidama, Demeka Becha is perfectly situated to enjoy calm winds that help control the drying process of the coffee after milling and washing. The coffee is dried on raised beds, where members of the washing station pay careful attention to rotate and rake the coffee to ensure even drying and consistent quality. We love the complexity and brightness of this coffee, with notes of orange syrup, rose, and lavender in the cup. There is an herbal character to this lot that we especially enjoy, as it adds a depth of flavor that supports multiple brewing methods.
