Juicy coffee with notes of redcurrant, cocoa and black tea. Kenya Mount is a basic but tasty and very popular variety in our assortment. And this is no coincidence, because coffee from Kenya is considered one of the best in the world. All thanks to the fact that research is being carried out here, and modern technologies are used for grain processing. Small cooperatives also work effectively here, and grain is exported through an open auction. This coffee is named after Mount Kenya - the highest in the country and the second highest mountain in Africa after Kilimanjaro. And the coffee itself grows around the mountain, as well as towards the south - almost to the capital of the country - Nairobi. It grows at an altitude of 1400-1800 meters above sea level on rich volcanic soils, which gives a cup of coffee a complex and rich taste. In Kenya, only a few varieties of Arabica are grown. The most popular of them are SL28 and SL34. They were introduced in the 1930s by Scott Labs on behalf of the Kenyan government. The government wanted an economically successful variety that was tasty, drought tolerant, and productive. A total of 42 experimental varieties were bred by Scott Lab, but SL28 and SL34 were selected. Other varieties also grow in Kenya - Ruiru 11 and Batian. This lot was washed in the same way as almost all coffees from Kenya, which is why it turned out so bright. And thanks to manual harvesting and responsible approach during drying, the coffee turned out to be an excellent value for money.
