Roadmap Coffeeworks
Lexington, KY, USA
Have you heard of the incredible coffee grown on the steep slopes of snow-peaked Mt. Kilimanjaro? Well this coffee wasn't grown anywhere near there. And yet it is incredible. The highlands in the southern part of Tanzania may be less heralded but do not take a backseat. There in the regions of Mbeya and Ruvuma, smallholders produce about 90% of the coffee, hand-picking only the ripest cherries. The result is the intense fruit found in this delicious cup! And yes, this is a peaberry! We get a lot of questions about the famous peaberry. What is it? Well normally coffee beans grow two at a time inside the cherry. Not so with the peaberry! These guys are lone children. As a result, they are often smaller and denser than more typical coffee beans. Do they taste better? You tell us.
