Peru is the mountainous country on the western side of South America, with Ecuador and Colombia to the north and Chile to the south. Here you can find both desert, mountains and jungle, and here we also find the source of the Amazon. To the east of Bolivia lies the world's highest navigable lake, Lake Titicaca. Although the country is not as famous for its coffee as several of its neighbors, Peru is a great coffee nation. Among other things, the country is one of the world's largest fair trade producers, and very large in organic production. The highest quality coffee comes from high-altitude plantations on the slopes of the Andes. Right here, in the Villa Rica region, Senora Olga Tello Quintana grows her coffee! At first, the taste offers mild notes of hazelnut, nougat and a light vanilla spice that turns into a spring-like floweriness. The acidity is balanced but noticeable - especially in the aftertaste - as a note of yellow plums. This is a relatively smooth but complex coffee that is truly versatile. Just as perfect for the morning cup as for the dinner finale.
