Buno was established in 2018 and is managed by Mr.Abiyot who oversees the selection of partner farmers, cherry processing and drying practices. Buno focuses on working with farmers with 8-15 hectares of land, which makes quality improvements more manageable and ensures that the volumes of cherries produced can be separated into micro-lots per single producer. To ensure that farmers wait until the cherries are ripe, Buno pays them a premium for every kilo delivered after harvest. 9 farmers contributed to this batch who, on average, have farms of 6.5 hectares. In this region, coffee grows under the shade of native trees such as acacia and wanza. The local soil is a fertile red volcanic soil with sandy loam at depth.
