This balanced coffee, with a silky mouthfeel when brewed for filter, and delicate acidity and caramel sweetness for espresso, is grown by the women’s group at Esquipulas co-operative. Brew for filter and enjoy delicate stone fruit acidity and silky smooth mouthfeel. Try espresso to experience the exceptional balance of delicate acidity, caramel sweetness and bittersweet roasted nut. Combine this with milk to create a harmonious blend of sweet milk and bittersweet coffee, reminiscent of melted affogato. Sourced from the Esquipulas co-operative in La Libertad, Guatemela, this particular lot was grown by 12 members of the women’s group. With gender equity still a major issue in the coffee industry, the group has been formed and supported to help women-grown coffee gain recognition. The name ‘La Florida’ (“Abundance of flowers” in Spanish) is attributed to the history of the area: after its independence, the village was named ‘La Florida’, before being later changed to ‘La Libertad’ (Freedom, in Spanish).
