Bishan Fugu coffee is produced in the forest, by a man called Metad, under the Guji appellation. Bishan Fugu is the name of the village where this forest is located, just over 400 km south of Addis Ababa in the Oromo region. This forest covers 85 hectares and is home to ancient endemic species, some of which are increasingly rare in Ethiopia. Introducing coffee trees under these shades provides high quality coffee. This agroforestry system is also a means of protecting the forest by giving it an important role in local economies. In Bishan Fugu, Metad grows coffee trees from varieties 74112/74110/74140 and 75227. The conservation of the natural heritage of this site is an issue Metad, his teams and Cafés Lugat are very sensitive to. Maintaining this environment protects the farmers and the know-how that shapes it. Metad is also involved in social projects, supporting road and school constructions in his region.
