The Duromina Cooperative is one of the largest coops in the Kata Muduga Union. It receives cherry from 329 union members, of whom 75 are women. These coffees are processed at one of three sites, each of which supplies drying beds and a wet mill. Like Duromina of harvests past, this year’s lot has those notes of stone fruit and citrus that bathe us with the pure joy of a washed Ethiopian coffee. This year, however, we’re also tasting the sweet-tart blast of passion fruit, followed by concentrated melon and apricot sweetness. The body is syrupy like liquified watermelon candy. This cup is packed with florals, moving from heady jasmine into breezy tropicals. It’s a beautiful filter coffee and a delightful espresso.
