Our Three Pillars Blend incorporates coffees from three different Latin American countries. The first coffee component comes from La Labor in Ocotepeque, Honduras. Produced by AMPROCAL (Asociación de Mujeres Procesadoras de Café la Labor, or roughly translated to Association of Women Coffee Producers of La Labor), this coffee comes from the women-run organization that assists women entrepreneurs working in coffee production in the region. The organization was established in 2007 to promote the sale of certified coffees from women producers, as well as provide microfinancing opportunities to its members. The second coffee, from Chiapas, Mexico includes various microlot offerings from small producers in that region. The producers who contributed their product to this coffee are all part of the Por Mas Café program run by Exportadora de Café California (ECC). Initially created in 2015 in response to the devastating roya (a.k.a. coffee rust) crisis, the Por Mas Café program pairs ECC agronomists with small producers to provide agricultural and business expertise, and thereby help improve and grow their coffee production overall. The third coffee comes from Cusco, Peru, located near the Andes mountain range. Produced by Valle Inca, this coffee producer group is run by Prudencio Vargas Saenz, who founded and runs the organization. Currently about 101 small producers make up the Valle Inca group which incentivizes higher product quality by offering higher prices to farmers. Overall, Valle Inca has instilled greater trustworthiness and engagement for its members, some of whom are just getting involved with the specialty coffee market. Each of the three coffee components in this blend represent the hard work and dedication of numerous small coffee producers in Latin America. We are proud to showcase their work in our Three Pillars Blend, which stands to uphold three essential pillars of sustainability: social, economic, and environmental.
