For me, coffee from Mexico still means making a dream come true. With the coffee of the Finca Sol Nocturnowhat means „night sun “ in German has come true more than just a dream. The coffee is in Isla Grande, near Teocelo in Veracruz. The growing conditions are based on biodiverse and biodynamic Agroforestry. It looks something like the coffee can grow in a forest, shaded by trees, surrounded by shrubs, along with other crops such as mangoes, passion fruits and avocados in harmony with nature. Diego, who has been active in coffee production for a long time, fulfilled the dream of having its own coffee farm with Finca Sol Nocturno in 2015. The absence of chemicals and the practices used lead to healthy soil and a high variety of flora and fauna. This contributes holistically to the preservation and protection of the endangered cloud forest ecosystem on site. Diego and his team (follow that link to see the whole team) spare no effort to produce natural coffee. In addition to nature conservation, the result of their work is one excellent quality in the cup. On the farm, which is hugged by a number of Robusta plants, they grow Varieties Tabi, Pink Bourbon, Anacafe-14, Iapar and Gesha. Diego and his team turn one in the post-harvest process Anaerobic pre-fermentation in the cherry, followed by one semi-washed Preparation and drying on African Beds. The coffee developed one bright and living Acid and delicious Berries– and Fruit flavors. He reminds me in his mouth Cacao Nibs with something Passion fruit. You can also see many citrus fruits, for example Tangerines. The body is beautiful juicyand the acid is exciting, which I really like. All in all an interesting specialty coffee for espresso preparation but also very tasty at Bialetti! How did the coffee come to Hamburg After harvesting and processing, the coffee was transported to the Caribbean coast from where it was made by Sailing ship came to Hamburg. The transport took around 2 months and almost completely dispenses with the use of the diesel engine. For the sake of transparency, it should be said that the port must be driven by motor for safety reasons, so the coffee has not been completely transported 100% by wind power. Outside the ports, however, wind power was consistently used! The beautiful sailing ship is called Avontuur and is from Timbercoast sent to the world's oceans. Follow the link and learn more about Timbercoast's mission or read where the Avontuur is. By the way, every year the arrival of the Avontuur in Hamburg is celebrated with a wonderful campaign and the complete freight is deleted together with volunteers. I was there and very touched by the people present! If you are interested, please contact me to maybe go to Hamburg together in summer 2024. Why do we buy and sell this coffee somos café stands for change together, something together. When I first contacted the Sol Nocturno project, I came forward Luca with me. She is one of the co-founders of this project, which by the way is the beautiful slogan „coffee shared among friends “ carries. Together with Kristina, she coordinates everything that needs to be done in Germany so that coffee can find its way here. Luca and I, at that time I only knew them by phone, subsequently exchanged views on our projects and very soon found us on the same denominator. As is sometimes the case, a lot was right away and so the desire to get a sack of green coffee gave rise to the possibility of losing 11 sacks of green coffee. With this coffee I want to show that it is holistic alternatives to the normal value chain and you can support great visions with coffee and meet wonderful people!
