This selection from the Tablon de Gomez municipality in Nariño, Colombia is comprised of coffees from various smallholder producers, each with an average farm size of just 1-2 hectares. These farmers are keenly aware of how climate change is impacting coffee growing and are taking steps to mitigate its consequences by committing to practices of ecological protection - namely by preserving a part of each of their farms as untouchable forest. While primarily focusing on coffee production, farmers here also grow fruit trees like avocado and lemon that provide shade to the coffee plants. Tablon de Gomez is a relatively remote area, but producing specialty coffee has allowed this community to receive premium rates for their harvests, improving the community’s financial and ecological wellbeing immensely. This is the third coffee we’ve released this year from this region and this lot delivers on the sweet and balanced profile we love from this locale. In the cup we find both soft pear and juicy cherry acidity with a round vanilla finish.
