Tasty Coffee Roasters
Izhevsk, Udmurt Republic, Russia
Coffee from the already famous farmer in the coffee industry, Rafael Ayi, grown on his La Virginia farm. This is the second lot of coffee from this farmer in our assortment. This lot was collected from trees of the yellow bourbon variety and processed by a natural experimental method in which the berries were fermented in an anaerobic environment for 200 hours before being dried. The history of the emergence of coffee from this farmer in Russia begins with the Doublebee coffee chain, which became a sponsor of a unique social project. The company designed and built a cable car in Colombia in the province of Huila at Raphael's farm. The road, which began to be built in August 2017, is now ready and makes the life of the farmer much easier. Rafael Aia's farm is on one side of the canyon and the processing station is on the other. You could get there on foot or by mule. In the rainy season, such a trip took 35 minutes, in the dry season - 25. The path runs through a forest and a river with steep descents and ascents. In order to deliver a bag of ready-to-export green coffee, a mule farmer has to go to the plantation twice, which is exhausting and difficult. The farm produces 80-100 bags of coffee per year. You can calculate how much time Raphael spent on delivering grains, but you still need to transport fertilizers, building materials, etc. there. Now the time to transport one bag of coffee by cable car takes 3 minutes: the distance between two points located on opposite sides of the canyon is 560 meters. The farm is located in the Huila region near the town of Timana at an altitude of 1700 to 1900 meters. The farm has 6-8 pickers.
