About This Coffee

Don't sleep on our last Kenyan offering of 2022: a fruity, floral estate coffee with notes of rose petal, pomelo, red currant, and melon wrapped up in Haribo sweetness. Estate coffees like this, unlike coffees from a cooperative, are owned by one or several owners and they usually only process the coffee they grow and harvest, and are common in Kenya. This vibrant coffee is an "AB" bean size lot (slightly smaller than Kenya "AA" lots) which we loved especially for the unique and nuanced flavor characteristics of the SL28, Ruiru 11, and Batian coffee varieties that it comprises. Nyawira Estate's approximately 3640 coffee trees are planted on a property located about 10 kilometers outside of the town of Embu on the southern slopes of Mount Kenyaβ€”a dormant volcano that is the second highest peak in Africa after Kilimanjaro. Embu coffees tend to be bright in the cup, and this coffee sparkles with complex citrus and berry notes in a sweetness that ranges from lively fruit candy to deep brown sugar.
