This Rwenzori Bugoye from Uganda has a rich, candycane sweetness. The fruity acidity tastes like ripe, juicy cherries, and the dense body coasts the palate, leaving a long-lasting finish that tastes like caramel. While Uganda is generally associated with Robusta coffee, the hilly regions around Mount Elgon in the east of the central African country provide an optimal climate for producing high quality Arabica too. Known as the mountains of the moon, the Rwenzori mountains stretch for 120 km across the Congo and Uganda, and reaching 5000 masl provide the necessary day0night temperature swings for coffee cherries to slowly ripen. Besides coffee, cassava, corn, beans and peanuts are also grown in this lush and beautiful region.
