TROPIC PUNCH, a Montag classic, is the definition we prefer to use for naturally processed beans originating from south-central America that impress us with their strikingly strong fruity character. In the second half of last year, the bean that deserves this name came from Rodrigo Sanchez's farm called Finca El Progreso, which fascinated us with its fantastic coffees. We start 2024 with a similar core from Rodrigo's other farm, Finca Monteblanco. This time, we have a naturally processed “Purple Caturra” variety, again extremely funky: an extremely intense and strong fruitiness will make you feel it in the first sip. That's why we wanted to call it PURPLE PUNCH. Caturra is a natural hybrid of Bourbon, one of the most culturally and genetically important varieties of the coffeea arabica family. Although Caturra was first discovered in the Minas Gerais region of Brazil (between 1915-18), it is a very important arabica variety that is especially widespread in Colombia and Central America and gives extremely successful results.
