Bringing incredibly special Yemeni coffees to Nashville continues to be nothing short of a miracle as Yemen has been in a state of unrest since 2014 due to a civil war. Read more about the incredible story of Rayyan Mill in Yemen here. If you haven’t tried a coffee from Yemen, you are in for an incredible experience. We can’t quite compare the taste of Yemeni coffees to any other; they are extraordinarily unique. Because much of Yemen’s climate is desert-like, Yemeni coffees are dry (natural) processed meaning no water is used. Instead of the deep juicy fruit characteristics that you typically find in natural-processed coffees, we taste the crispness of dried apricot rounded out with a lovely rose-like quality. In fact, many of the coffees that we’ve sourced over the years from Rayyan Mill have a distinct floral softness all its own. This is the last lot we’ll be able to purchase from Rayyan Mill since it closed earlier this year. So, make sure you don’t let this one get away. Yemeni coffees are truly something special and it’s something we never want to take for granted.
