Offshoot Coffee
Perth WA, Australia
The processing of Dragon Nectar coffee involves manual selection and picking of ripe coffee cherries, followed by flotation and washing in water, natural drying in a dark place, and hulling. It is grown and processed in Old Foundation Manor (OFM) where it is located at the foot of Gaoligong Mountain in Yunnan, China. OFM lies between latitude 24’N and 25.5’N, and has a long history and culture and beautiful natural sceneries. Due to the large temperature difference between day and night, the mild climate, fertile soil, and abundant rainfall, the coffee beans produced by OFM offers a high quality and excellent flavor performance. OFM established a coffee planting cooperative in 2009 in Longyang District, Baoshan, and now the total planting area is more than 1,000 acres, distributed in Lujiangba, Baoshan, Lincang, and etc., with the main planting varieties such as Catimor, Bourbon, Typica, Geisha, and Kona. The owner of OFM, Di SHI, is a second-generation coffee grower. He has always hoped to improve the quality of his family's coffee beans through his own efforts since he was a child, in the hope that the coffee beans from OFM would be loved and recognized by more coffee lovers. After taking over the estate, he insists on producing specialty coffee, continues to innovate, explores more coffee processing methods, and tries to introduce and plant more excellent varieties.
