Our final Lot from Finca Juan Martin is a Gesha! We are excited by the coffees from this innovative producer and this could be the most memorable yet. In this release the beautiful Gesha varietal is matched with washed-anaerobic fermentation for a cup with the sweet fragrance of ripe summer berries. In the cup this coffee is ripe and rounded like the best summer fruit. The sweet note of strawberry comes first, followed by soft stone fruit and aromatic black tea as it cools. The refined texture is unmistakably Gesha, with acidity and sweetness that are perfectly balanced. Finca Juan Martin is an experimental farm owned by Banexport, our partner in Colombia. The focus of this project is to process different varietals to develop optimal coffee qualities. Beyond this, Juan Martin serves as a showcase for coffee producers that export their coffees through Banexport. Located in the highest area of Sotara, just 30 mins from Caucas capital of Popayan, Juan Martin is dedicated to developing environmentally-conscious practices. Coffees here are processed while adhering to the highest standards of quality depending on the ambient conditions. This lot was processed in an anaerobic washed style. Freshly harvested cherries are fermented overnight in GrainPro bags before depulping, washing, and drying. The result is a clean cup with beautiful depth.
