About This Coffee
William Mora and his family are third-generation farmers. He and his wife Olga Alpizar have 4 children, and they all help their parents in the production of coffee, but especially the eldest daughter, Helen. Their farms are located at an altitude of 1600 m above sea level, in a remote part of Tarrazu called Partiya. This is a remote area, in some parts of which there is still no telephone connection. It is almost always foggy and very humid here. The family grows varieties of coffee trees such as Caturra and Catuai. One of their priorities is caring for the environment; therefore, they do not use herbicides to control weeds, but instead cut weeds by hand, which requires much more effort. They fertilize 3 times a year and also apply leaf rust two or three times a year. They like to keep the farm productive with organic compost from their livestock. Their livestock is for their own consumption only, but coffee is their main activity and source of income.
