About This Coffee
Marcos Oviedo faced a terrifying truth: his family coffee farm could not survive if they continued to operate as they had for the prior two generations. In response, he and his wife Maricella decided to build a micro mill. The micro mill gave them more control of the processing and production chain, allowing them to improve their production and cupping scores so they could sell at a fair price and save the family farm. This coffee was sourced by Jensen, our former roaster, in spring 2019. Cafe con Amor, a farmer owned exporter and importer brought this coffee to the states in their efforts to connect small family run farms near their farm with specialty roasters. We got to connect with Marcos and Maricella at the SCA Expo in Chicago back in April of 2024.
