Within the central mountain range of the Colombian Andes lies Ibague, the capital city of the department of Tolima. This city has a long-standing tradition of music and is the seventh most populated city in Colombia. On a clear and sunny day, you can see the snow-capped peaks of the Nevado del Tolima against the horizon. Twice a year, the city of Ibague dresses up in pink, during the months of January and February and between May and July, after the rainy seasons. If you walk out into the streets and parks of Ibague during these times, you can admire hundreds of Ocobos or Pink Pouis blooming and decorating the city. The economy of this city is primarily based in the industrial and agricultural sectors. Out in the highlands that surround the city of Ibague you can find around twenty coffee growers that, with love and passion, produce coffee for the “Los Ocobos” blend. The region’s proximity to the Nevado del Tolima, offers these coffee farms a diversity of microclimates adding to the complexity in this cup’s profile. We think this coffee is a perfect representation of what beautiful, washed Colombian coffees have to offer. As we taste this coffee, we’re reminded of Raisins, Stone Fruit, Pecans, and rich Bakers Chocolate.
