This lot is named after the indigenous tree that is grown on the farms for shade. It's a really great representation of naturally processed coffees coming out of Guji - a clean cup, especially for a natural - with an intense mix of both citrus and tropical fruit flavors. This coffee is grown by small outgrowers from the Kebele village in Urage. The production and processing is overseen by Ture Waji, known as the "King of Guji", at the Raro Nansebo washing station. Ture's company Sookoo Coffee provides pre-harvest loans to farmers who, for example, need to pay labor to do maintenance on the farm, such as weeding and planting. The washing stations employ a âwoman-firstâ policy and the company has built a school for the children. Roads have also been built to improve the infrastructure.
