The Tree House Coffee team is definitely ready for summer with this crushable coffee. In keeping with the trend of coffee releases from east Africa, we sourced this particular single origin Kenyan coffee through a collective of various smallholder farmers of the Kamwangi washing station in the Kirinyaga region. Much like hops to a beer brewer, the roasting team has a similar passion towards sourcing unique coffee cherry varietals. This lot, in particular, is composed of SL28, Ruiru 11, and Batian—all three heavily dominating in quality and yield amongst the volcanic soils and highest elevations of the Kirinyaga region. The result is a bright acidity and savory finish that makes this Kenyan coffee so special. These coffee cherries are de-pulped and washed at the Kamwangi washing station, fermented for 24 hours, and then washed once more—totaling 72 hours for the whole process. Enjoy notes of grapefruit and pomegranate juice as we savor what seems to be quite an amazing summer ahead.
