Coava Coffee Roasters
Portland, OR, USA
La Llamarada (“flare” or “blaze”) is named for El Malinche, a native tree that blooms with fiery-red flowers at the beginning of the rainy season across the Nueva Segovia and Jinotega regions of Nicaragua. These areas feature high elevation, diverse soil types, and optimal climate conditions that have allowed desirable coffee varieties to thrive and specialty coffee to flourish under the stewardship of quality-minded producers. Recent years have brought more diversification of processing styles in Nicaragua, showing an enthusiasm for flamboyant flavor much like El Malinche. In this natural-process coffee, look for notes of almond, apricot, and chocolate cake.
