About This Coffee
Our team is very excited to introduce this high-quality coffee to our rotation. First visited by Sal, Jake, and Zach in February of 2020, La Minita means “the small mine”, which pays homage to a local legend of pre-Columbian indigenous people looking for gold on the land that is now the farm. An employer of 80 full time employees, La Minita supports many families with a medical clinic, a dentist, living quarters, and quality of life improving programs. Each year these families, along with approximately 150 contracted laborers, work with the farm of about 1,700,000 coffee trees. La Minita meticulously sorts coffee through their coffee mill, Beneficio Rio Tarrazú, which they believe to be one of the most technologically advanced and ecologically sound coffee processing facilities in the world. The farm is also Rainforest Alliance Certified, meaning that they have passed through strict environment and labor standards to ensure protection of the ecosystem, animals, and people of La Minita.
