In the fertile highlands of the Gicumbi District in the Northern Province of Rwanda lies the Mayogi Cooperative, a group of just under 400 coffee farmers dedicated to producing exceptional coffee. Through the support of the Sustainable Growers initiative, women play a major role in the cooperative, serving in the President and Vice President roles and composing 50% of the Board of Directors. We have had the good fortune of spending time with Florence Niyomahoro, President of the Mayogi Cooperative during our time in Rwanda, and are very excited to feature their coffee on our roster again. In our opinion, this lot from Mayogi has an ideal Rwandan flavor profile, with loads of sweet root beer and cream soda in the cup. We also taste the unique presence of stone fruit acidity and soft floral notes that elevates this coffee to one of our early favorites of the year.
