Syra Coffee
Barcelona, Spain
Kamuyu is a coffee from Kenya, a country that in recent years has positioned itself as a very noble producer of good specialty coffee thanks to its warm climate with precise rainy seasons. The village of Kamuyu, located in the south of Mount Kenya at an altitude of 1700 m, has a rich volcanic soil that gives this coffee its exceptional lively character and characteristic citrus notes. The on-site factory is part of the Mutheka Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS), a cooperative organized around smallholder farmers who use the factory to wash and pulp their beans. Each farmer owns approximately 204 coffee trees and often grows other food crops alongside their small coffee plots. FCS places great importance on quality and is known for its meticulous bean selection that has led them to repeatedly win the local quality contest. This coffee has a floral aroma with intense notes of pomegranate and honey. In the mouth it is fruity, with a pleasant acidity and a slight taste of plum and white flowers. It has a silky texture reminiscent of butter, making it perfect to be enjoyed with drip filtering methods.
