About This Coffee
Where is the plantation located? Fazenda do Salto is a plantation of 800 hectares and has existed for more than 100 years. The farm is located in Sul de Minas, a region south of Minas Gerais. The area is one of the first coffee-producing areas in Brazil, known for its high-quality coffee beans. At an altitude of 1000 m you can find the plantation, where the coffee berries grow in a cool climate, with an average temperature of 22°C. Due to the height, climate and soil, the coffee berries get a distinctly fresh taste, with notes of chocolate and hazelnut. What makes the plantation so special? Currently, three generations of the Reis family manage the plantation, of which Otávio is already the fifth generation. The name of the plantation comes from the family's second passion, horses. Salto means ‘spring’ in Portuguese, and the family has already won many prizes in jumping competitions. Fazendo do Salto is a modern company, but still uses many old traditions. During cultivation, 40 of the 90 employees are permanently present on the farm, with everyone having their own responsibilities. About 80% of employees live permanently on the plantation throughout their lives. The employees' children go to school and can then continue their studies if they wish. If they prefer to work on the plantation, just like their parents, then that is the option. You can taste all the hard work and knowledge of the employees and is also rewarded with many prizes.
