CHAPTER 1: PASSION FOR MASTERFUL COFFEE In 1994, founder Lammert Brouwers decided to follow his heart and started working as a barista, burner and entrepreneur in Amsterdam to be one of the first in the Netherlands to introduce specialty coffee under the name Brandmeester's Koffie. CHAPTER 2: WINKEL AMSTERDAM In the same year, the doors of our store and in-store roasting plant opened on Van Baerlestraat in Amsterdam. The store soon attracted many visitors who came by the smell of freshly roasted coffee. The coffee beans were roasted in the store! Visitors knew coffee mainly from the supermarket; pre-ground and vacuum packed. In our store, customers could get acquainted with the tastiest fresh coffee and receive personal advice from our baristas. CHAPTER 3: OUR FIRST BLEND Our coffee range consists of a wide variety of different coffees. Our Single Origins can be divided into two types: the Single Estate where the coffee beans come from one plantation and the Single Origins coffee beans that come from one coffee area. Both species let you taste the specific properties of the – or plantation – area. You can also find Melanges in our range. The blends are composed by our burners in such a way that different aromas and character traits of different coffee beans compliment each other perfectly. Our first blend was the Aficionado; a powerful blend with a sturdy character that is still very popular with all our customers. CHAPTER 4: MICRO-FIRE BOESINGHELIEDE Since 2007 we have been roasting fresh coffee in our micro roasting plant in Boesingheliede (and no longer in the store in Amsterdam). Our roasters, Tom & Farkas, roast all our coffee beans according to the ‘slowroast’ principle in our own micro coffee roasting company. The coffee beans are slowly roasted with this method, so that the taste and aroma develop better and evenly. CHAPTER 5: “CAMPIONISSIMO” REAL BICYCLE COFFEE Firebenders is more than just quality coffee. We also have a great passion for cycling. From cycling to mountain biking, at Brandmeesters we love it when we can be outside and exercise. In 2012 we introduced a special blend: the “Campionissimo”. The beans are roasted according to Italian tradition and the espresso made from this blend has a supple character with dark notes. CHAPTER 6: MORE THAN JUST COFFEE Firebenders is more than just quality coffee. CHAPTER 7: NEW TEA LINE AND COFFEE SUBSCRIPTION Fire masters continues to develop and for us it is important to closely follow the latest coffee and tea trends so that we can only offer the best to our customers. For example, from 2022 we will introduce a new tea line with only premium tea leaves. No tea grit or added sugars. In addition, from this year our customers can also register for our coffee subscription. Select how often you receive your favorite coffee, so that you always have fresh coffee at home.
